Stephanie Horowitz applies the design excellence and technical rigor associated with commercial architecture to custom residential projects. She has served as a Designer at NBBJ, as well as a Sustainability Consultant to several of the nation’s leading architectural firms. Now as Managing Director at ZeroEnergy Design (ZED), Stephanie manages projects that range from the architecture of zero energy residential developments to custom LEED Platinum homes. Her practice takes a calculated approach to green design, accounting for the client’s environmental ideology, aesthetic preferences, and energy performance goals. She is committed to designing homes and buildings that are both durable and at least 50% more efficient that the energy code requirements, in pursuit of energy independence. Stephanie’s design work ranges from traditional New England to sleek modern vernaculars.
Stephanie has received New England Home magazine’s 5 Under 40 Award which spotlights the best emerging talent in residential design in New England. She was also named one of “The Hot 50” by Boston Home, which recognized the next generation of design stars who are shaping the city. Her design of the Truro Residence received a Citation for Sustainability from the Boston Society of Architects, a Regional Award in the Sub-Zero / Wolf Kitchen Design Contest, and a Grand Award from EcoHome magazine. Her firm, ZeroEnergy Design, recently received Boston Home’s Best of Boston, Green Architect award as well as a 2011 Boston Green Business Award. Stephanie’s work has appeared in notable publications such as the New York Times, Architectural Record, Design New England, and Solar Today. She is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Architecture; she has served as a Guest Lecturer at Northeastern University, is a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC), and a Massachusetts Registered Architect.
Nicole Goldman, founder of ‘g’ Green Design Center in Mashpee Commons, is an interior designer who works with commercial and residential clients to create green environments that are comfortable, affordable, inspiring and sustainable. She shares her experience in design through contributions in many publications as well as in speaking opportunities for professionals and homeowners. Educated at UC Berkeley in Art and Art History, Ms. Goldman continued her training with an MBA at the NYU’s Stern School of Management. She put this combined art, design and management expertise to work in the design company she ran with her husband, designer, artist and now filmmaker Jon Goldman, from 198! 6 – 20 02. Since that time she has managed her own interior design practice which transformed into ‘g’ Green Design Center in 2007. The Center is now the first green building design showroom in the US to offer franchise opportunities helping to make green building accessible to a wide and enthusiastic audience.
